Can I clean BinTemp and Cache?

Hi All. Can I clean the two directories to save space? Or is there some other files I can delete?
Thank you.

Yes, you can delete the folder

Hi @pamgu,

You can delete those folders to free up space, but if you do, you will need to re-populate them in order to use various Lumberyard features.

Cache:

  • This stores all of your processed assets
  • It can be repopulated by running the Lumberyard Asset Processor. You can either launch the Asset Processor yourself, or launch the Editor, which will automatically open the Asset Processor
  • If you do not have anything in your Cache, you will be unable to run the Lumberyard Editor until all assets have been reprocessed, and you will be unable to run any game launchers (unless you have already packaged your assets somewhere else)

BinTemp:

  • This folder is full of build artifacts from previous compilations.
  • It is used to accelerate your builds. It is fine to delete (it can get quite large), but if you do, the next time you compile Lumberyard it will take longer to build

Let me know if you have any more questions!
