Debugger not working (cannot connect to GridMate service)

Hi,

I am using Lumberyard 1.6 and I cannot connect my debugger in build in LUA editor. My GridMate starts correctly with messages:

14:41:40|GridMate : GridMate Allocator has already started! Ignoring current allocator descriptor!

14:41:40|GridMate :

14:41:40|GridMate : ================================================

14:41:40|GridMate : = GridMate initialized: Version 00.01.0263 =

14:41:40|GridMate : = Build on: Fri 10/11/2013 11:42:40.81 =

14:41:40|GridMate : ================================================

14:41:40|GridMate : Session 65A41BD1227D47C4893A35D8D6A12937 created by 65b6f080

and there is just one GridHub_copyapp_ session active (without any connections).

When I start Lumberlyard Editor xor LUAIde then LUA Editor do not see any Targets - the list is empty. Also I do not see any new session in GridHub (GridMate).

Lumberyard editor startup logs says:

================================================
= GridMate initialized: Version 00.01.0263 =
= Build on: Fri 10/11/2013 11:42:40.81 =

Marked as local only.

Do you have any idea how to resolve this (I have turned off firewall and also I changed port but this didn’t help) ?

Thanks in advance for help :slight_smile:

ps.

Also I cannot connect with RemoteDebugger (actually it connect by breakpoints do not work) …

I just wanted to say i have the same problem, I posted a question about it as well but I think I was under the wrong section and I’m not sure where it ended up officially but here is the link.

https://forums.awsgametech.com/t/lua-debugger-not-connecting/1546/1

I just try at different computer with Windows 8 Pro where I can connect LuaIDE to the Editor for 1.6.0.0 (but debugging is not working, it never stops at breakpoints). On my computer with Windows 10 x64 Pro I cannot. I attached my DxDiax.txt in zip file. I am going to clean reinstall Lumberlyard (uninstall and the install again) and I will let you know … Perhaps it is connected to my configuration or to Win 10.

Hi again,

I think I figured this one out (at least this fixed it for me). What I didnt notice on the other windows machine was that in GridHub, under connections, there were 3 connections but on my pc there was only one. The extra two on the working pc were for the LY editor and the LUA editor respectively.

This got me thinking in a Gridmate direction and I found the following page http://docs.aws.amazon.com/lumberyard/latest/developerguide/gridhub-intro.html#gridhub-registering-an-application

Specifically this part:

Note

The name of the hub must be the neighborhood name to which theTargetManagementComponent connects.

So I checked out the cpp source for TargetManagementComponent and found that by default it connects to the “Computer Name” (after I looked at the code, I also noticed that the line right above in the document says that very thing…oops).

Therefore, to fix this issue I had to change the field in GridHub called “Hub Name” to be the same as the name of my computer (on windows you go to control panel -> system and securty -> system -> and it is under “Computer Name”).

Once I did that, everything connected and worked as expected.

I hope that helps!

I confirmed on another windows 10 machine that it did work (at least it connected to the target). I also tried a clean LY install and it did not work for me on the original machine. Not sure what the dfferences between the machines are.

Clean installation didn’t help me too. But please see the latest answers which give spot a little …

Hi,

As you write that changing Hub Name as computer name allows Editor to connect with GrigHub.

Soo, we are one big step forward …

But still I cannot connect my LuaIde debugger with Editor:

  • In GrigHub I don’t see LuaIde connection:

  • In LuaIde I still do not see Editor Target and Cry Context:

Do you have any idea ?

It works for me too :slight_smile:
