I have the same issue, and it seems to be because I’m running it into a VM. Make sure you run Windows outside a virtual machine.

yeah I’m running Win 10, upgraded from Win 7 but it’s not inside a VM

You need DirectX 11 to run lumberyard, as most VM could only emulate DirectX 9 ( haven’t been using VM myself, just from memory), so that might be the reason you can’t launch lumberyard in VM.

@DeathStrike

Sorry to hear you are having problems running Lumberyard. The log you posted indicates that the error is occurring in a module related to your Intel Graphics Driver.

  • Does your system have an integrated graphics chip or a separate graphics card?
  • Do you have the latest graphics drivers installed from Intel?
    (The most recent Intel HD Graphics 3000 drivers for Windows 10 were released 1/21/2016)

Edit: I should also mention that officially speaking the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chip is below minimum spec for running Lumberyard – if this is your only option (i.e. no separate graphics card) then you are going to experience some performance issues even if you are able to resolve that driver issue.

You still may be able to investigate some of capabilities of the engine and tools by setting the Editor to low detail
mode: “File > Global Preferences > Configure > Low”
