Fleets stuck in NEW state

Hi there,

I just tried to create a fleet on us-west-2, but the fleet never progressed passed the NEW status. Haven’t really had this happen before, to am thinking it’s an issue on the GameLift side?

Also tried to create a fleet from a build I uploaded a few days ago (and was able to create a fleet from then), but it’s also stuck in NEW.

Created some more fleets in different regions, and they’re also stuck in NEW.

Any help would be appreciated as we’re trying to hit some deadlines at the moment.

P.S. What do we need to do to be able to create more than 1 fleet per region? Think we’re stuck on the free tier somehow, since keep getting the error

LimitExceededException: Current limit of instance type of c4.large have been reached.

The service limits page says that we should apparently have up to 20?

Update: It seems like some of them have now moved to ERROR, after briefly transitioning to DOWNLOADING for 3 seconds.

Hey @geordie - Are you seeing this behavior on more recent Fleets you are creating? Regarding having access to only 1 Fleet at a time - we will check your account settings and let you know what we find.

Hi @MisterGameLift (sorry think I forgot to properly @ mention last time),

Were you able to share any details about what was causing the fleet errors? Any more info or diagnostics would be good to know, particularly if the cause is unknown (and thus it’s something that could happen eg. during launch week)

It looks like newly created fleets are okay. I was able to create more fleets from those known working builds, and after ~12 minutes they became active. It lets me create more than one fleet per region now too - did you change anything?

A fleet created from a newly uploaded build is currently stuck in ACTIVATING, but that may well be be from something on our end.

Hey there - Fleet provisioning typically takes minutes but can in some cases take up to several hours to complete, depending on how busy GameLift is at the time as well as the health and availability of other AWS services. Our recommendation is that if you need a Fleet for an important game milestone (eg. launch, preview, demo), you provision your Fleet well in advance and scale it to 0 instances, scaling up only when you need it.
