Introducing Amazon GameLift Realtime Servers Preview

Game Developers!

I am usually pretty excited when
we announce new features, but this one is particularly noteworthy – today at
the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA, Amazon GameLift announced
the Preview for Realtime Servers! Now, in addition to matchmaking and dedicated
server hosting, GameLift can give you a game server as well. Just give us your
server logic, and GameLift takes over from there, scaling your server to
millions of players at a fraction of a penny per player per month.

GameLift Realtime Servers are
based on Node.js. You use JavaScript to define the stateful or stateless logic
of the game server, and you can also choose to execute that server logic at
regular intervals. GameLift Realtime Servers even includes a network stack in
the form of a lightweight client SDK to facilitate client-server-client
communication.

If you’re attending Game
Developers Conference (GDC) 2019 in San Francisco, CA, stop by the Amazon Game Tech booth #S627 for an exclusive live demo by one of my colleagues. To sign up for the preview, please visit the GameLift Realtime Servers Preview page.
