Is it possible to efficiently add & remove vegetation from the terrain during game play?


I am coming from Unity for the specific reason that I am not able to remove TreeInstances from the Terrain without a noticable drop in performance.

Because of this I am looking for another engine that may offer this solution. I would like to know if what I am trying is possible in Lumberyard. In short I wish to create a terrain and have the ability to add and remove grass textures and trees to it during game play without noticeable drops in FPS. Is it worth me learning Lumberyard in order to do what I want to do.

Currently the ability to script or alter vegetation content at runtime is unsupported. We are always looking to improve the engine and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. The team has been made aware and are investigating solutions.
