Another huge straight step forward toward a great vision.
This is one of the most significative updates so far, not for the features, all great, but for the confirmations it gives.
While other engines gain weight and complexity with any updates, Lumberyard simply using well-known design patterns, good practices, and a great execution is reaching an unprecedented level of simplicity and consistency.
While things get added at a very fast pace the engine keeps getting cleaner and leaner the more the new design spread over the codebase.
Everything that gets added is always familiar, easy to use and to extend and very synergic with the rest.
This version also includes 2 major systems, the new visual Script and the integration of the battle-tested Animation Middleware E-Motion fx…and they just from preview seem to perfectly fit with the rest.
Another confirmation being the fact that this version signs the start for the full legacy entity system replacement and all the required components will be released in the next couple of versions.
Documentation is finally catching the progress reducing the usual lag behind.I just read the new networking doc update and the one about Script Canvas and I found them very comprehensive.
Github not available from the first day as it requires some restructuring…ok…It is a preview too and It needs to be in a good shape, as soon, times will get mature for a great return on this investment.I’ll do a post just for it as it requires a lot of improvements and love.
Lumberyard has delivered great value again…skeptical people are warned… this is serious stuff.
