outline objects on mouse hover

hi there, i am a total noob here. i want to try lumberyard and start with outlining object on mouse over. any ideas how do i do this ?

Very generally, the screen width and height is needed, you would display your mouse cursor and periodically grab its x,y coordinates on screen. The camera’s position and near clip distance is used to figure out where in 3d space that mouse click happened (this bit involves trig and vector normals) and then raycast from the cameras location to that point. The raycast should hit the entity behind the mouse pointer and you can turn a particle emitter on (either on the entity you want to target or a special entity that you move to the target each time you reselect something), or change material properties to emit more light.
